Nimrod Wiesenberg - Biography
The inspiration for the special kind of work I have chosen to do is based on the unique way I was raised. My father worked as a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thailand and in Africa and my family and I were exposed to landscapes and experiences that were very inspiring.
I grew up in a family that loved to hike and to become familiar with countries and with peoples. I remember hikes through the African jungles, and the Ivory Coast, where I lived as a child for eight years. I remember lagoons and seacoasts and diving in the Atlantic Ocean, being in forests full of surprises with a very rich variety of tropical animals. I remember indigenous African villages and learning of rich and emotional cultures. We returned to Israel when I was 12 years old and it was clear to my parents that we would live on a cliff above the sea.
As I child I loved to surf, swim, snorkel and, of course, to dive. I had a strange attraction to chess and I played for hours in school chess competitions. As a result of this, I represented the Engineering Corps in the Israel Defence Forces chess competitions while I was in the army. At the age of 18, I volunteered for the I.D.F. Engineering Corps and served for five years.
I loved the action, the nature and the nature reserves where we did our training. This is how I became intimately involved with the Negev Desert, the Arava, the Carmel, the Gilad, the Golan and the Galilee. I know most of them from walking through them on nighttime navigations during training, and from jeep tours. My love for nature and for action pushed me into completing the entire Engineering Corps track: basic training, work in the regiments, officers training courses, and training to become an officer in the Corps. As a captain in the Engineering corps, I served with Druze, Bedouin, Circassian, Christians and Jews from the various ethnic populations in Israel.
I very much enjoyed meeting the families of my soldiers, meeting with people from different backgrounds and getting to know them, and of course, being able to enjoy the different types of ethnic foods. At the end of my military service, at the age of 23, I became an authorized diving instructor, certified by CMAS, and started my Bachelors Degree studies in history. I studied at the Beit Berl College and lived at Kibbutz Ramat Hakovesh. My love of nature and of hiking caused my parents real grief, as they thought their son would continue in their footsteps and become a third generation of engineers. After completing my academic studies, I continued studying and became a certified Ministry of Tourism tour guide, authorized to guide in Hebrew, English and French.
I enjoy showing people who tour with me our beautiful and unique country. Israel has many areas of nature, all of them different. The contrast between the Judean Desert and the Jerusalem Hills, the Carmel Mountains and the Golan Heights, the Craters in the Negev so much in such a small country a feast to the eyes. The human mosaic is fascinating. So many good and talented and unique people Druze and Circassians, Bedouins, Arabs, Jews and Bahai. The human wealth of our beautiful country is what makes it unique and is the source of its magnetism. My guests, who are touring with me, will enjoy a luxurious and special vehicle. The Nissan Portal is considered a legend in the field of all-terrain vehicles. It is used by delegations to Africa and Australia and by research teams on various continents. In spite of it being a luxury vehicle, it has the advantage of permitting me to bring tourists to see agricultural fields, stream beds and desert landscapes that are endemic to our country. This is why I chose this vehicle. It makes it possible for me to travel through Eretz-Yisrael and gives the intimate feeling of walking
I invite you to contact me, tour with me in our beautiful country. I promise that you will want to come back again.
See you soon on the paths of the Holy Land.
